How to get to the island of Vis ?

Vis is an island in the middle of the Adriatic sea.
It can only be reached by boat - ferry or private yacht.
Ferries sail from Split on the Croatian mainland or from the Italian coast.

You can fly to Split airport from many European cities.

You can also reach Split by train, bus or boat.

From Split there is at least one car-ferry daily throughout the year and several a day in the summer which takes about two hours.  
There is also a daily catamaran (passengers only) throughout the year which takes one and a half hours.
From Italy during the summer time there are several ferries and catamarans from Ancona, Pescara, Giulianova or Vasto.

SPLIT - VIS - SPLIT:
The car-ferries depart from the "Jadrolinija" terminal in Split harbour. You must buy the ticket before boarding the ferry from the Jadrolinija main office or one of the two kiosks on the Riva (esplanade). When you buy the ferry ticket ask for the name of the ferry and where it is docked. It is not possible to make a reservation for these ferries. So we recommend that if you are bringing a car you arrive at least one hour before departure and preferably earlier.

Rates for cars depend on the type of vehicle.
You can pay by cash or by all major credit cards.

SPLIT - VIS - SPLIT:
The easiest and most comfortable way of coming to Vis is to take a fast catamaran.
It departs from in front of the Harbour Master's Office on the Riva (esplanade) - (on picture).
The journey is 29 miles (54 km) and takes one hour and 10 minutes.
