Vis is an island in the middle of the Adriatic sea, 54 km (29 NM) from the mainland. It can only be reached by boat – Car ferry, fast catamaran (for passengers only) or private boat/yacht.
Ferries depart from Split only.
Catamaran also depart from Split but at Tuesday only it sail via Hvar and you can board up in Hvar also.

The car-ferries of “Jadrolinija” depart from Split harbour. You must buy the tickets before boarding the ferry from one of the two kiosks on the Riva (esplanade). When you buy the ferry tickets ask for the name of the ferry and where it is docked. It is not possible to make a reservation for these ferries. So we recommend that if you are bringing a car you arrive at least one hour before departure and preferably earlier. Ferry takes 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Faster way of coming to Vis is to take a fast catamaran.
It departs from Split harbour, from dock: “Gat Svetog Petra” (esplanade). At Tuesday only it sail via Hvar and you can board up in Hvar also.
Tickets you can buy before boarding from the kiosk in front of where the catamaran dock (on the beginning of “Gat Svetog Petra” dock).
The journey is 29 miles (54 km) and takes one hour and 20 minutes. Tickets for catamaran you can pay by cash only !
